하나님의 형상을 따라 남과 여로 지음 받은 우리들의 양성과 관련된 규정 문제는 최근들어 개방된 사회시스템의 영향으로 표면에 많이 드러났지만 인류의 역사 속에 뿌리 깊게 존재하고 있었던 종교적 또는 윤리적 문제였음에 틀림이 없습니다. 하나님의 창조의 섭리를 따르자면 성소수자들은 분명 그 섭리와 일치하지 않는 사회 구성원들이지만 예수님의 가르침을 따르면 사회적 약자요 핍박 받는 이들임에 틀림이 없는 만큼 그 존재를 부정하고 백안시 하기 보다는 어떤 종교적, 윤리적 새로운 잣대가 필요하지 않을까 생각해 봅니다. 그런면에서 United Church of Canada의 노력과 용기에 경의를 표합니다.
